What is SendGrid?

SendGrid is a tool developed by Twilio (https://www.twilio.com/en-us/sendgrid/email-api), a leading provider of email delivery services. NPact's Foundation Cloud Grants and Foundation Cloud Community Portal products were each designed to send manual and automated emails to Grant Applicants, Fundholders, and other external stakeholders in a foundation's community. All email messages going out from these Foundation Cloud products to external stakeholders can be sent using the SendGrid API. Our products have historically used a foundation's SMTP server, which is generally more prone to issues. SendGrid takes the complexities of configuration out of SMTP and into a clean API, reducing the support requirements for NPact and for each foundation. 

This feature will eventually be required for all foundations using Foundation Cloud, but will be initially disabled until the foundation has their SendGrid account enabled and tested by NPact. 

How do I get SendGrid enabled? 

To request access, you'll need to gather the following information and provide it to NPact via a new support ticket. Please download the form below and fill in a response for each line, then attach the form to your support case. 

• Your organization's email domain (usually the last half of your email address, i.e., "myfoundation.org")
• The name and email address of the person who is your domain administrator (this could be an IT person or a contact with your third-part IT provider) 
• The name of your DNS host (GoDaddy, Rackspace, etc.)
• The name and email address of the person that emails should come from for the following categories (if applicable). Note: the email addresses must use the organization's email domain (ex: "myfoundation.org").
  • All automated emails from Foundation Cloud Community Portal (i.e., "portal@myfoundation.org" or "DoNotReply@myfoundation.org")
  • FC Grants Correspondence: Grants (i.e., "grants@myfoundation.org") 
  • FC Grants Correspondence: Proposals (i.e., "grants@myfoundation.org") 
  • FC Grants Correspondence: Scholarships (i.e., "scholarships@myfoundation.org") 
  • FC Grants Correspondence: Constituents (i.e., "grants@myfoundation.org") 
  • FC Grants Correspondence: Web Applications (scholarship and proposal/grant) (i.e., "applications@myfoundation.org") 
  • FC Grants Correspondence: Alerts to foundation staff (i.e., "alerts@myfoundation.org") 

Once you've gathered this information, please open a new support ticket with NPact with the Subject "SendGrid Implementation" in our Support portal (https://support.npact.com/s/).  For help attaching the implementation file, please see this document.
