Accessing User-Defined FIMS Help

You can access user-defined FIMS help for almost every field and window in FIMS.

1. Place your cursor in the desired field and press F2 on your keyboard. The FIMS Help window opens.

FIMS Help Window

Note: Some windows in FIMS also have a Help button that you can click to access this window, but pressing F2 will open the help window from anywhere in FIMS.

2. Do one of the following:

  • Select the FIMS Notes radio button to view any system-defined help information.

Note: This is not the same as FIMS Online Help. Many windows and screens do not have any FIMS Notes. If you want to access the local version of the FIMS online help system from here, click the FIMS Manual button.

  • Select the User Notes radio button to view any user-defined help information.

3. Click the arrow in the Help Level field and select the type of help you want to view: Screen-Level Help or Field-Level Help. Screen-level help applies to the entire screen you were using when you pressed F2. Field-level help applies to the specific field where your cursor was when you pressed F2.  All of the information you enter here can be seen by any user and applies to all records.
