Although I am selecting both subtotal and totals only when running a report, I am still getting all the detail- why?
Answer:
If you want to display only the subtotal and total lines in a report, you can select the sort field on the sorting tab and choose subtotal, totals only or both.
Choosing a sorting option and then checking off the subtotal and/or the totals only box will only result in a collapse of the detail if you are running the report to the screen.
If you send it to file, spreadsheet or graphical viewer, the detail lines will appear in some circumstances, but no subtotals.
Only the detail lines will appear when you send it to spreadsheet.
When you send it to graphical:

- The sorting fields will sort the data
- Choosing subtotal will not create subtotals at the field value changes on the sort fields
- Choosing both subtotal and totals only will result in a single grand total line
