Article summary

On March 10th, 2022 there will be a change to the GuideStar Charity Check URL.

Answer:

If you are currently accessing your GuideStar Charity Check subscription through a login URL page generated from FIMS, this is a notice to inform you that the page will no longer be active after March 10, 2022. This is a legacy page that is not secure and must be removed.

For Azure Cloud customers, your URL will be automatically updated on March 11. The link will allow you to access valid organizations but will require your login to GuideStar. For others, you can still access your Charity Check subscription by clicking this link (from within your software, not in a browser).

Notes:
FIMS on Azure Cloud:
The GuideStar URL will be updated in System Options for you. When that URL is updated and then when you subsequently click the GuideStar button in FIMS you will see a browser window open in which you will need to enter in your GuideStar credentials. Previously, the GuideStar username and password set in system options would be automatically passed to the website without the user having to log in. With this change those credentials will no longer be passed and the user will have to log into the GuideStar website.

FIMS on-premises:
Please update the GuideStar URL to what is configured in the article below.

What is the website address for GuideStar?

Notes:
You cannot access the new URL directly from a browser because it contains a merge field that comes from FIMS. You have to enter that URL into system options in FIMS so that the ein # for the profile you are on in FIMS gets merged in the request. When you click the GuideStar button in FIMS it will open a browser with a preview of the grantee you were viewing in FIMS and then you click sign in and log into GuideStar website with credentials.

If you would like to go directly to the GuideStar website and not access it from FIMS, you can use the URL below and log in and then search for the charity you would like to view:
