Configure Custom Fields Use Case

In this use case, we'll show you how to add a custom field to the grant recommendation form — for example, to include a field that's not on the default form. We'll also show you how to configure the field so that it displays on the review summary that advisors see before they submit a grant recommendation.

Tip: Community foundation Administrator rights are required to access Control panel features in the application.

Add a new custom field

In this example, we'll show you how to add a custom field to the form and configure how you want it to display on the review summary.

1. Select Control panel, Recommendation form.

2. On the Grant form setup page, select the Recommendation button.

3. Under Basic components, select Check Box, then drag and drop it to the desired section on the form.

4. In the Check Box Component pop-up, on the Display tab in Label, enter the text you want to display for this field on the recommendation form.

  • For example, you can enter Check this if you want us to follow up with you.

5. To have this field display on the review summary, select the API tab.

a. Select Custom Properties, then select Add Value.

b. In Key, type DisplayName.

c. In Value, specify the name you want to display on the review summary for the custom field. For example, you can enter the same text you specified for the label name, or you may want to display shortened text instead — such as Follow up? — to be more concise.

d. Select Save.

6. Select Save form. Your new custom field displays on the grant recommendation form, on the review page, and on the Grant details page.

Edit an existing field's display name

In this example, we'll show you how to change the text on the review summary for field that already displays on the recommendation form.

1. Select Control panel, Recommendation form.

2. On the Grant form setup page, select the Charity button.

3. Select Edit  for the Search for a recipient field.

4. Select the API tab.

5. Select Custom Properties, then select Add Value.

a. In Key, type DisplayName.

b. In Value, enter the text to display on the review summary for the field. For example, you may want to display Recipient instead of the full Search for a recipient field name to save space.

c. Select Save.

6. Select Save form.
