Creating Pool Records

How do I make a new pool in FIMS?

1. In FACTS, click the Pools supertab, and then click the Pool tab.

2. Click the New button on the toolbar.

3. Enter the Pool ID (up to six characters) that you want FIMS to use to identify the Pool.

4. Enter the Name you want to use to identify the Pool.

5. Enter the Beginning Unit Value for the new Pool.

NOTE: You should generally leave this value at $100 (the default value).

6. Enter a 1 in the Cycle field. This indicates the Beginning Balance Cycle. The first Cycle that you reconcile will be Cycle 2.

7. Select the Prevent Manual Transactions and Create Fund Level Entries checkboxes. These setting help to automate the process of keeping FACTS and General Ledger in balance with each other.

8. In the Deposit Account Code and Disbursement Account Code fields, enter the deposit and disbursement accounts that you want to use for the Pool.

NOTE: If you use multiple deposit and disbursement accounts, you may want to create a “dummy” account record to act as a default placeholder in these fields.

NOTE: You must create the Account records before you can enter the appropriate codes in these fields. Refer to Creating Investment Account Records for more information.

9. Click the GL Accounts tab and enter the appropriate natural account numbers for the Fund Asset, Realized and Unrealized Gain / Loss, Interest, Dividend, and Fee accounts.

10. Click the Save button on the toolbar.
