When connecting to the FIMS ODBC data source or running a report after adding database tables from within Crystal, the following error occurs, "[DataDirect][ODBC Progress OpenEdge Wire Protocol driver][OPENEDGE] Access denied )(Authorization failed)" occurs.
Answer:
This issue can occur because the FIMS User ID that is being used to set up the ODBC Data Source does not have an associated password. ODBC connections to the database require a User ID and password.
Solution: Have the user establish a password in FIMS by choosing 'Change User Password' from the Tools menu. Re-try the ODBC Data Source connection in the Crystal report.
Other causes of this issue:
If there were errors when running the SQL views and Widths tool. These errors can be seen in \NPO\found\FIMS\custom, 'sqlviews.err' file. Those errors will need to be resolved.
How do I run the SQL Views & Widths Utility?
Permissions to tables are granted in the SQLViews.log file.
Note: When running Crystal reports, always use the SQL tables.
