Does a Welcome Email get Automatically sent out if a User's Email Changes for DonorCentral?
I changed a user's email address in FIMS on their profile. Does a new welcome email get automatically sent out?
Answer:
DonorCentral will not automatically send out a welcome email when you change an advisor's email address in FIMS.
The Welcome email only goes out to new DonorCentral users once you add the fund association on their profile and if the profile has an email address in FIMS that is not a duplicate on another FIMS profile.
A welcome email is also sent in the unique situation if for example for some reason you remove the fund associations from the advisor's profile, save and do a full upload to DonorCentral thus removing the advisor from DonorCentral. After that then went back into FIMS and re-added the fund associations to the advisor's profile, saved and did a full upload to DonorCentral. The user would get a welcome email because essentially DonorCentral would think it's a new user since that user had been removed from DonorCentral previously when their fund associations were removed and then re-added. This scenario would be a rare occurrence.
If you change the email on a profile that is associated with a fund in DonorCentral you will need to send out a Welcome email from DonorCentral manually by doing the following:
- Go to DonorCentral
- Go to Control Panel\Site Administration\Users
- Find the user in question
- Click the ellipsis by their name
- Click Send Welcome Email from the options
The user will be prompted to change their password when logging into DonorCentral for the first time after the email changes.
