Article summary

Duplicate Profiles

You should generally avoid saving Duplicate Profile records in FIMS. If you attempt to save a new Profile record that seems (to the system) to match an existing Profile, a warning message opens to tell you that there may be duplicate Profiles. A list of the possible Profiles opens in the FIMS Viewer.

If you suspect that your Profiles may contain duplicates (for example, if you have electronically converted a pre-existing mailing list into FIMS data), the Duplicate Profile Report will help identify and mark these potentially redundant entries.

Refer to the Duplicate Profile Report for more information.

Once you identify duplicate Profile records, you can delete one of them. If the duplicates both have associated transaction history, you can use the Combine Two Profiles utility to combine all history related to either Profile, and optionally delete the redundant Profile. Refer to Combining Two Profiles for more information.

If you need to combine multiple Profiles, you can use the Combine Two Profiles in Batch utility. Refer to Combining Two Profiles in Batch for more information.
