The Enter Proceeds window allows you to record whole or partial sales of securities. You can access this window by clicking the Proceeds button on the Securities tab (on either the Unposted Gifts or Gift History supertab).

Proceeds Fields

Field

Description

 

Sec. ID

Read-only field that displays the ID number assigned to the Security.

Ticker

Read-only field that displays the ticker symbol for the Security.

Name

Read-only field that displays name of the Security.

Settle Date

The date when the Security trade was settled.

Trade Date

The date when the Security trade was initiated (usually 1 to 5 days before the Settle Date).

Sell / Transfer Out

Radio buttons that indicate whether the proceeds are the result of a sale or a transfer of securities.

Shares

The total number of shares that were traded in this transaction.

Amount

The total (gross) amount for the sale of the stock.

Price

Read-only field that displays the price per share received on the sale.

FIMS automatically calculates this amount based on the Amount and number of Shares.

Commission

The commission paid to the broker for facilitating the transaction.

Fees

Any additional fees (for example, SEC fees) paid in association with the transaction.

Proceeds

Read-only field that displays the net proceeds earned on the sale.

FIMS automatically calculates this amount based on the Amount minus any Commission and Fees.

Apply Date

The G/L apply date for the transaction.

Confirm Date to Broker

The date when the Broker provided confirmation of the sale.

Donor Notified

The date when the Donor was notified of the sale.

Check or Wire #

The check number or wire number that was used to issue the

proceeds.

Check or Wire Date

The date when the check or wire was issued for the proceeds.

Issuer of Check or Wire

The financial institution that issued payment on the proceeds.

Reference #

The reference, deposit, or confirmation number for the transaction.
