Article Summary

When running a report directly in Crystal after upgrading to Progress 11, the following error occurs, "Error: Failed to retrieve data from the database. Details HY000:[DataDirect][ODBC Progress OpenEdge Wire Protocol driver][OPENEDGE]Syntax error in SQL statement at or about '}WHERE "Fund","Established"<{d '2018-0" (10713) {Database Vendor Code:-210056}"

Answer:

Since this error occurs directly in Crystal Reports and outside of FIMS this would not be in the scope of support for FIMS support, this would need to be addressed either with Crystal or Progress.

With that being said, one customer was able to resolve this issue by reaching out to Progress and the following solution was provided:

You may have a message relating to the PGOE27 file which is not listed in the Progress article above. If so, the attached registry file may help in that instance. Be sure to back up your registry first and see the following notes.

The attached registry file (be sure to change the extension back to REG) is the export of the key highlighted in the snippet below. You may have to create this key if it is missing under your version of Crystal in the Registry Editor. In this example, this customer had Crystal 2008, which is the same as v12.0. This key lives under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Business Objects\Suite 12.0\Crystal Reports\Database.

The driver name referenced in the REG file must match the version of Progress installed on the user’s workstation.

If you have further questions on this, you can contact Progress for assistance using the information on their website:
