Before a general ledger account can be added to funds, it must first be set up in the Master Chart of Accounts.
Answer:
Before you can add a new GL account to any Fund's individual chart of accounts, the GL account must exist in the Master Chart. To add it to the Master Chart:
- Click on General Ledger File Maintenance > Master Chart of Accounts Maintenance.
- Click the New button and enter in the Natural Account Number, Description, and Type.
- If you want this new GL account to automatically be added to any new Fund that you add in a particular Class, or you plan to Mass Add the new account to multiple Funds, then add the applicable Classes. If you only want to add it on a case-by-case basis, do not add any Classes. Click the Save button.
- Go to the Accounts super tab in the General Ledger, and search for the Fund you want to add the account for.
- Click on the small Account tab.
- Click the New button on the toolbar and enter the Fundid and Natural Account Number.
- The rest of the information will flow in from the Master Chart.
- Confirm that the year is correct.
- Click the Save button on the toolbar.
- Then click on the binoculars button on the toolbar to confirm the new account was added to the Fund.
