Article summary

When running word merge for fund statements a user may receive a message the document was locked for editing by another user.

Answer:
This error means another user has the file open. Check and be sure that no other co-worker is using the same files at the same time that you are. For merges, it is best if only one person at a time does the process unless you choose to export the data files to a different location that your co-worker. You can set up a new saved report for the export in which you define a different location for the txt files to be created which can help alleviate this issue.

This issue can also occur if the Auto-Launch feature is used on the Word template. Sometimes what can happen is that in the process of pulling in the txt files, they can become locked by this process. You can un-check the auto-launch checkbox, export the data, and then manually merge from within the template itself.
