Article Summary

Home

Note: Some features are only available to donor/advisors and to administrators viewing as advisors. If you are an administrator, go to Home and select View as advisor. For more information, see View DonorCentral as an Advisor.

When you log in to DonorCentral, the Home page displays by default. To access the Home page from elsewhere in DonorCentral, select Home on the top navigation bar.

You can configure this screen by clicking the grid icon in the upper right corner of any tile and dragging it to the desired position. The tiles will appear in the same positions the next time you log in on the same device. To hide or show information on a tile, select its Collapse or Expand icon.

Note: DonorCentral is a web-based platform and has been certified compatible with the Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Safari browsers. For more information, see System Requirements and Recommendations.

View your fund details

Under View your fund details, a donor/advisor can perform several tasks:

  • Select a fund name or see more fund details to open the Fund details page.
  • If available, select View latest fund statement to download the statement as a PDF.
  • Select Recommend a grant > to start a new Grant recommendation for a fund. See the Recommend a grant subheading below for instructions on filling in the Grant recommendation form.
  • If you are logged in as an administrator and not using View as advisor mode, select the gear icon to edit the Title of this tile. From here you can also edit the Spendable Balance Footnote. This is the message that displays when a user hovers over the blue i icon beside the dollar amount available to spend.

For more information, see View fund details.

Recommend a grant

From the Home page, you can recommend a grant from either of two panels:

  • View your fund details

  • Opportunities

In either case, select Recommend a grant > beside one of your visible options to open a new Grant recommendation form. The Recipient or Funding source fields will automatically fill in based on your selection.

1. Either choose a charity from your prior grantees under Select prior recipient, search for an existing charity you haven't yet donated to under Search for a recipient, or select Add a new charity to add a new recipient to the system.

For search criteria, you can enter part of an organization's name, location, ZIP Code, or EIN — or a combination of these. For example, if you search for "scouts ny," it will match Boy Scouts of America -- New York, NY 00564.

To remove a selected charity so you can choose a different recipient, select X.

2. Select Next to advance to the Recommendation tab.

3. In the Fund section, select the fund you want used for this recommendation by searching or browsing under Funding source.

If you select the Fund anonymous option, the fund is marked anonymous on the Payment Plan tab in FIMS. When the grant check is printed, instead of having the fund name print on the check stub, “Anonymous Fund” appears. In addition, if you select this option, the information is hidden from other grant funders in DonorCentral.

Note: To see how FIMS records and handles the Fund anonymous option, see Track Anonymous Fund/Advisor in FIMS.

4. In the Grant section, enter the recommended Amount, Number of payments (if applicable), Program name, New Grant Purpose, and any Special request. To not display an advisor, select Advisor anonymous.

Depending on your site's configuration, you may be able to create multi-payments by splitting the total grant amount over multiple payments. In Number of payments, enter how many payments you want made. The frequency defaults to every month, and the amount of each payment is calculated by dividing the grant amount by the number of payments. To change the frequency, specify how often you want each payment made in Months or Years. The payment amount updates whenever you change the number of payments and/or the payment frequency.

Note: To see how FIMS records and handles the Advisor anonymous option, see Track Anonymous Fund/Advisor in FIMS.

5. To make this a recurring recommendation, scroll down to the Recurrence section and select Is recurring. Specify the Start date (required) and the End date (optional). In Recur every, enter the frequency in Number and select the time period under Interval — either Days, Months, or Years.

If you specify an End date, the Total number of recurrences and Total amount for the grant are displayed. Total number of recurrences is calculated using the Start date, End date, and recurrence frequency values. Total amount is calculated by multiplying the grant amount value by the number of recurrences.

6. Select Next to advance to the Agreement tab.

7. Acknowledge the grant recommendation requirements by selecting I agree.

8. Select Review to verify the information you entered is correct. If you need to modify any of the data, select Previous to go back and make your changes.

9. Select Submit. A submission confirmation will appear when the process is complete.

If your site was configured to require a minimum grant amount, and the amount you specified doesn't meet the minimum amount criteria, you will need to change the amount to at least the minimum value before you can submit the recommendation.

Note: At any time in the process, select Save for later to store your grant recommendation without submitting. To return later and complete it, look for it on the Home page under Unsubmitted recommendations.

Note: To track and manage all your recurring grant recommendations, select Recommendations, then Manage recurring.

See your grants

This tile displays recent grant recommendations.

Things you can do in this section:

  • Use the menu at the top of this tile to toggle between Pending and Approved grants. (This filter will only appear if you have pending grants that exist in FIMS.)
  • Use the left and right arrows near the bottom of the tile to switch between multiple pages of results. You can also Select View all grants to display the Grants page.
  • Select the hyperlinked name of a grant recipient to display the grant details. If this grant was already approved, you can then select Recommend Again.
  • As an administrator, select the gear icon to edit the Title of this tile. You can also edit the Description, which is what displays when a user hovers over the blue i icon beside a grant dollar amount.

Note: The default Description text is: "Scroll through to see your pending grant recommendations, approved grants awaiting payment and paid grants. You can also see your full history - including summary information and charts - by clicking the link below or by clicking "Grants" in the navigation bar."

Explore opportunities

Under Opportunities, you can view information about existing or upcoming giving opportunities.

Things you can do in this section:

  • As a donor/advisor, you can recommend a grant based on an opportunity in this section. Select Recommend a grant > to open a Grant recommendation form.
  • As an administrator, you can add, edit, and delete giving opportunities from this section.
  • Select + Add an opportunity to create a new opportunity card in this tile.
  • Select Reorder opportunities to change the display order.
  • Select the pencil icon to edit an existing opportunity card.
  • Select the trash icon to delete an existing opportunity card.

For more information, see Explore grant opportunities.

View your unsubmitted recommendations

Use the Unsubmitted recommendations tile to see a list of recommendations that you have saved but not yet submitted. You can view details about your unsubmitted recommendations, make edits to or delete any unsubmitted recommendations, and submit saved recommendations — either one at a time or in a batch of multiple recommendations.

Note: This tile will not appear on the Home page if you do not have any unsubmitted recommendations.

A Not ready status displayed for a recommendation indicates that a validation check failed — such as a missing required field or an invalid amount — when you saved the recommendation. For recurring recommendations, this may also occur if the start date is in the past or after the end date. You cannot submit a Not ready recommendation until you have corrected the issue by editing the grant recommendation.

For more information, see View Unsubmitted Recommendations.

Customize the Home page

As an administrator, you can customize the layout of tiles on the Home page by selecting and dragging the grid icon in the top right of most tiles. You can also customize the appearance, images, and text in tiles using the gear icon.

For more information, see the help topic Customize the Home Page.
