Article summary

If a donor or a staff member need to cancel a suggestion that was submitted, how can they do that?

Answer:
Suggestions can only be cancelled if the suggestion import window has not been opened in FIMS. Once the import window is opened, the suggestions are moved to a staging table in the database to be ready to be imported, then the user typically imports the suggestion and creates applications.

If someone even opens the suggestion import window to see suggestions to import, then any suggestions submitted cannot be cancelled in DonorCentral, they would have to be managed in FIMS.

Cancellation scenarios:

1. The import window was opened, and the user can see the suggestion in question in the window that needs to be cancelled.
  • User can decline the suggestion in the import window which essentially cancels the suggestion
2. The import window in FIMS was not opened in FIMS after the suggestion was submitted
  • Donor can cancel their own suggestion by going to Grants\Pending recommendations in DonorCentral
  • The foundation can also cancel within DonorCentral in the Site Administration window being sure to not be Viewing as Advisor.
Note: For the donor or the staff member, if you do not see the cancel option, that means that the import window has been opened in FIMS and that now the pending suggestion can no longer be cancelled in DonorCentral, it needs to be managed in FIMS. At that point, a staff person can decline the suggestion in the import window. If the suggestion was already imported and an application created then a FIMS user would need to go through the process of managing the application in the grant module.

DonorCentral cancel option shown below. This option only shows if the import window has not been opened in FIMS:
