How do I capture information when a donor gives to a different cause outside of their usual fund?
Answer:
The best option is to use an additional purpose code. When a donor gives to their own fund record the gift as an "Addition to Own Fund". If they give to a different fund, use a different purpose such as " Addition to Fund". Unless each gift is coded in this fashion, doing analysis on giving outside of their fund is very difficult.
