Article summary

There is a Standard and a Compare radio button above the Spending Policy Evaluation Method.  How do I use the compare button?

Answer:

You can compare two spending policy evaluation methods by clicking on the Compare radio button and selecting two evaluation methods and the policy code for each method.

Go to View > Spending Policy > Spending Policy Calculations
Click the Compare radial button

The screenshot below is an example, your GL accounts may be different and your selections may be different. Scroll down further in the article to to find out how to use this tool.

This COMPARE FEATURE can be used in two ways:
  • The first is comparing two different evaluation methods. In this scenario, you would pick two different evaluation methods and the same spending policy code. For example, Evaluation Method 1 is Average Quarterly Balance and Evaluation Method 2 is Ending Quarterly Balance and the 1 st and 2 nd Spending Policy Code is 5%.
  • The second method uses the same evaluation methods and two different spending policy codes that differ by percentage, a different number of quarters, and/or the starting quarter as indicated in the spending policy code. For example, Evaluation Method 1 is Average Quarterly Balance and Evaluation Method 2 is Average Quarterly Balance, and the 1st Spending Policy Code is 3% and the 2nd Spending Policy Code is 5%.
NOTES:
  • When using the compare feature, you can no longer make a from/through selection on spending policy codes. This is a limitation of this compare feature. Instead of "from" and "through", the spending policy code fields now say "1st" and "2nd".
  • You must add a code to both fields even if it is the same code in both.  You can click on the Min or the Max radio buttons to determine whether to select the lower or higher spending policy amounts when you create spending policy from this comparison calculation.
  • Click OK, when you have made your selections to run the spending policy calculations.
