    How to allocate portions of the investments at a time without posting and unposting FACTS

    Is it possible to post portions of FACTS allocations to the pool at a time? For example, is it possible to allocate a quarter of the investments at a time without posting and un-posting in FACTS?

    The scenario would be if you allocate the investment returns you receive quickly right away and follow-up with alternative investments that take longer to report so that you aren't waiting so long to post all your investment performance.

    Answer:

    There are two different ways that interim allocations can be done. It is highly suggested that you copy live to demo and do the process in the Demo database first to see the results.
     

    1. The easiest way would be to go to General Ledger > Journal Entry > Automatic Entries > Allocations and Entries. Choose to base allocations on a range of dates to allocate for the earnings of the early earnings received.

    • This process works best using EP as a journal key which is not supposed to affect number of units for Funds in FACTS and shows up under the Interim Earnings row in FACTS Reconcile.
