How to reset MFA for DonorCentral Account

I got a new cell phone, and I need to reset MFA for my DonorCentral account so that I can configure MFA on my new cell phone, how can I do that?

Answer

Starting on 10/30/2024, if you have previously configured MFA for your DonorCentral account and need to reset your MFA, you will be able to reset MFA yourself on your DonorCentral account.

Note that staff administrators can also reset MFA for a DonorCentral account as well:

How to reset MFA for your DonorCentral account:

1. After logging into DonorCentral, click on your account in the upper right corner:

2. After clicking on account, the window below will appear:

  • If MFA is enabled for your DonorCentral account, you will see the 'Reset' link and you will see the type of MFA that is enabled; TOTP means authenticator and SMS is text.
  • The Reset option is provided to users who are already enrolled in MFA. Clicking this will reset the MFA for the user and will display a message to the user, “User MFA reset successful. Configure MFA on the next login.”.  If you wish to reset MFA for your account, click Reset. When you do that, you will need to go through setting up MFA again as described in the article below:

  • If MFA is not enabled for DonorCentral account, the MFA option will show as 'Not enabled' and will display a link to enroll. The Enroll option is provided to users who are not currently enrolled into MFA, i.e. users who either skipped MFA or “Reset” their MFA enrollment. Users can click the Enroll link to enroll in MFA which will take the user through the routine described in the article below:
