How to set up an ODBC connection FIMS on Azure
I need to setup an ODBC connection on with Crystal Reports with FIMS on Azure, how can I do that?
The steps below are only to use OBDC to connect Crystal Reports via ODBC with a FIMS database hosted in Azure.
At this time, it is not possible to connect FIMS databases on Azure with software installed on your local computer.
Answer:
1. Create a support case to have an ODBC port opened for your database in Azure.
2. In FIMS, go to Tools\System Utilities\Admin Utilties\SQL Tools\ODBC 92 Configuration
3. You will see this screen appear, just click OK on this screen. Some of the information from the screenshot has been removed for security purposes.
Data Source Name: The port # assigned for your ODBC connection for your foundation
HostName: The Azure server that you are connecting on to access your database
Port/Service Name: The port # assigned for your ODBC connection for your foundation
Database name: the name of your FIMS database
User ID: Your FIMS username that you are logged in with
4. You will see this message window appear. Click Yes:
5. You will then see this message showing process was complet. Click OK:
You can now open up a program such as Excel and link to the ODBC data source.
6. Click OK
