To use Crystal reports with FIMS data, see the steps below.
Answer:
These steps should be done on any workstations\terminal server\remote desktop server where Crystal reports are used.
If you are running Crystal reports from directly within Crystal and are not running from the custom menu in FIMS, then you can skip steps 1-2 and proceed to step 3. The Crystal Viewer is only needed if you are running a Crystal report from the Custom menu in FIMS.
1. Unzip the 'CR13Install.zip' file to the found folder being sure the files go to found\install\crystal\13.
The file is attached to this article
NOTE: This is not a full Crystal Reports installation, this is only the runtime\viewer that FIMS needs to run the report from the custom menu from within FIMS.
If your Crystal Reports were created in a version of Crystal below 9.0 then you will need to upgrade your Crystal installation, which is separate from this Crystal13 viewer, and then convert your Crystal reports to that new version of Crystal. Please see the FIMS System Requirements page.
2. Install Crystal Reports 13 runtime and configure your reports by doing the steps in the article below.
3. Install the ODBC driver on the workstation:
How do I setup an ODBC Connection on my FIMS workstation?4. Have all other FIMS users log out of FIMS on their workstations
5. Right Click on the FIMS shortcut on the server and run as administrator
6. Run SQL Widths configuration
This does not need to run on every workstation, just do once on server after installing ODBC on workstations. It is recommended to run this tool directly on the database server.
- Go to Tools\System Utilities\Admin Utilities\SQL Tools\SQL Views and Widths configuration.
- Check the box for Run SQL with audit, it will take some time to complete.
- FIMS will restart after the SQL tool runs
- There will now be updated files in the NPO\Found\FIMS\Custom folder. Check the sqlviews.err log to be sure there are no errors to be addressed.
Note: You may also need to update the actual Crystal Report itself after a FIMS or Progress update when running it for the first time. To do that, you would need to open the Crystal Report directly in Crystal itself and then save it. This will update the Crystal rpt file to the updated FIMS and Progress database structure. This will also solve issues if there are missing options in Crystal report exports.
