Importing Security Positions

You can import Security positions one at a time to add to inventory. The position can optionally be attached to an historical Gift. If it is attached to a Gift, then you can enter the Gift Number. If it is not attached to a Gift, then you can enter the Fund ID, Date, and Amount to identify the imported Security.

NOTE: You can access Gift Securities Inventory Maintenance from the Donor and Gift Management module by selecting File Maintenance > Gift Securities Inventory Maintenance.

1. In the Gift Securities Inventory Maintenance window, select Tools > Import Security Position. The Import Security Position window opens.

  1. Do one of the following:
    • If you want to attach the Security to a Gift, select the Gift checkbox and enter the Gift Number that you want to apply the Security to.
    • If you do not want to attach the Security to a Gift, clear the Gift checkbox and enter the Fund ID, Date, and Amount for the Security that you are importing.
    • If you want to create journal entries for the Security, select the Create Journal Entries checkbox and enter the appropriate Revenue (credit) and Asset (debit) accounts.

      NOTE: This checkbox is not available if you are attaching the securities to a Gift.

  1. Enter the Security name.
  2. Enter the number of Shares that you are importing.
  3. Click OK.
