After Moving FIMS Database Server to Windows Server 2019 users get kicked out of FIMS with multiple errors including:
'OpenEdge Graphical Client has stopped working'
'System Error: I/O error 22'
'The drive or network connect that the shortcut "..." refers to is unavailable'
'msgOpen: Unable to open message file: Promsgs'
'System Error WindowWndProc'
'Runtime error 216'
Answer:
This issue can occur due to DEP (Data Execution Prevention) being set to block all programs except those that are allowed as shown in the 2nd radial button below. If this 2nd radial button is set, then the prowin32 executable will not run.
It is recommended to change this setting to 'Turn on DEP for essential Windows programs and services only' as shown below in the first radial button then click Apply and OK.
After making this change, you will need to restart the server.
This issue can also occur if a firewall or anti-virus is blocking Progress files.
