I see recurring suggestions in Disabled status in DonorCentral. What does that status mean and how did they get in that status?
Answer:
Disabled is the equivalent of being deleted which can happen if a user\advisor or fund, or grantee associated with that recurring suggestion drops off the data transfer upload from FIMS to DonorCentral.
Causes of recurring suggestions to become disabled:
1. Changing the advisor's DonorCentral access level or removing the advisor from the fund association from a fund who created the recurring suggestion so that they no longer can access any funds and thus their advisor account does not upload to DonorCentral will cause the recurring suggestion that they had previously created to become disabled.
3. Removing or changing the grantee associated with the recurring suggestion can cause the suggestion to become disabled. For example, if you merge two profiles in FIMS and the grantee profile on the recurring suggestion no longer exists, this will cause the recurring suggestion to become disabled.
4. Changing fund ID also causes recurring suggestions to be disabled.

- Before removing an advisor from all funds in FIMS, you should see if that advisor has any open recurring suggestions in DonorCentral and if so stop them and recreate with a new advisor prior to removing the advisor from the funds in FIMS.
- When you change the fund ID on a fund, DonorCentral thinks that it is a new fund and the other fundid is considered no longer being uploaded.
Suggestions on handling advisor changes to funds:
- If the advisor is deceased that created the recurring suggestion that is disabled, then it is best to just create the recurring grant in FIMS Fund Distributions.
- If someone else has taken over the fund, it is best to recreate the recurring suggestion in FIMS Fund Distributions or otherwise recreate the recurring suggestion with a different advisor.
