Article summary

Relationship Tab (Profiles)

The Relationship tab provides a list of Profile records that are related to the current Profile. A Relationship code indicates how each Profile on the list is related to the current Profile. You can then use these relationships as the basis for reports and queries (for example a query that lists all individuals and organizations that use a specific Profile as their accountant).

You can use the radio buttons near the top of this tab to filter the types of relationships that are visible. The selection that you make will remain in effect either until you change it, or for the duration of the current Profile Management session.

  • Relationships: Displays relationships where the current Profile is the Relator.

  • Inverse: Displays relationships where the current Profile is the Relatee.

  • All: Displays both standard and inverse relationships for the Profile.

Note: You can also see a tree-view of Relationships in the Profile Data Grid. Refer to Viewing Groups and Relationships in the Data Grid for more information.

Note: Refer to Creating Relationships Between Profiles for more information on relationships. There is also a utility that automatically adds an Affiliation code to all Profiles that are participating in a particular kind of relationship. Refer to File Maintenance – Profiles for more information.

Note: The color of the Relationship tab will change to the Tab with Data color if the selected Profile has any type of relationship (where the selected Profile is the Relator or the Relatee). Refer to Setting Color Preferences in the Introduction for more information about configuring these colors.

Note: The order of the relationship is displayed in a read-only field near the bottom of the window (next to the Create Inverse Relationship button). For example, if the Relator is ABC Company and the Relatee is Jean Adams (related as a business associate), this field will display, "Adams, Jean is the Business Associate of ABC Company."
