Article summary

Row Format Tab

The Row Format tab allows you to add, view, and edit Row Formats for financial statements.

NOTE: Refer to Working with Design Statements for more information about Row Formats and Column Formats.

In addition to the fields on this tab, there are three buttons that you can use to add, edit, or delete Row Formats:

  • Create/Copy Format: Creates a new Row Format record. You can either create the new record from scratch or copy data from existing Row Format records.
  • Remove Format: Deletes the selected Row Format record.

IMPORTANT: This button deletes the entire record, not just a single row. If you only want to delete a single line from the Row Format, click the Delete button on the toolbar.

  • Refresh: Resorts the list of rows.

Row Format Tab Fields

Field

Description

Row Format Name

The name that identifies the Row Format record.

Row

The row number that determines the sequence in which rows will be printed when you run the report.

NOTE: Row numbers are automatically assigned, but you can change them if necessary.

Description

A text description of the selected row. This description will appear on reports that you print from FIMS.

This description is printed for G/L, BB, FBB, FBE, or Desc formatted rows.

Format

Code that indicates the purpose of the selected row.

NOTE: If you leave this field blank, FIMS automatically assigns a GL code.

Refer to Creating Row Formats for more information about these codes.

Print Control

Indicates the number of lines that you want to skip prior to printing the selected line on the report. Available values are 1-9 and N (if you do not want the row to print at all).

NOTE: Entering a number in this field does not affect exported financial statements but entering an N in the field will keep the row value from being exported.

NOTE: Do not use this field for Columnar Financial Statements.

Print Columns

The letter that indicates the column where you want this row information to print. Leave this field blank if you want the row to print in all columns.

NOTE: If you want the row to print in multiple columns (but not all of them), enter the appropriate letters. For example, enter ABC to print the row in Columns A, B and C. Enter a range, such as A-D to print the row in Columns A through D. You can also combine ranges and column letters (for example, B-EGI-M prints the row in Columns B, C, D, E, G, I, J, K, L and M).

Normal Balance

Code that controls the sign of the printed value. When set to dr, it prints the balance as it appears in the General Ledger, or as it is calculated.

For example, debit balance accounts, such as assets, print as positive amounts and credit balance accounts, such as Grants Payables, print as negative amounts. To reverse the sign of a row, enter cr in this field.

Formula

A formula that identifies the account range from which the value is calculated for the statement (for G/L rows) or indicates which previous rows to combine to calculate the current row value (for Tot rows).

NOTE: This field is only relevant for G/L and Tot rows.

From / Through

Indicates the range of account types that you want to print (for G/L rows) or the Fund Balance number that you want to print (for FBB and FBE rows).

NOTE: These fields are only relevant for G/L, FBB, or FBE rows.
