System Options – FIMS System

You can set the following default options to apply to the FIMS System.

Please contact FIMS Support before setting these options.

Note: Refer to the System Options section in each FIMS module chapter for specific information about the available options in that module.

Note: In some cases, System Options have a matching User Preference option. In these cases, the User Preference option will override the System Option for a specific user. Refer to User Preferences for more information.

Add Multiple Records

Indicates whether you want to use Multiple Record mode when adding codes via FIMS code maintenance.

If you select Yes, the system will automatically create a new record each time you create and save a code record.

This is helpful when you are first creating your code tables and are entering multiple records.

The default value is No (which you should usually use when you are not mass-adding records).

Color Disabled Text

RGB Color Codes

The RGB values of the color you want to use for disabled (unavailable) text.

The background for disabled fields is light gray. The default disabled text color is dark gray (128,128,128).

Note: Changing this value affects disabled text throughout Windows (not just in FIMS).

Note: If you select <None>, the color is set to the default from your Windows display settings.

The RGB values of the color you want to use for the module title bar.

Note: If you select <None>, the color is set to the default from your Windows display settings.

The RGB values of the color you want to use for the text on the module title bar.

Note: White (255, 255, 255) is the best choice if you are using a dark-hued background color.

Color Required Fields

The RGB values of the color you want to use to highlight required fields.

The default value is yellow (255,255,0).

Color Tab without Data

The RGB values of the color you want to use for the text on tabs that do not contain data.

Note: It is helpful to use different colors for tabs with data and tabs without data, so you can see at a glance whether a given tab contains data.

Context Menus

Indicates whether you want the Reports and File Maintenance menus to be context-sensitive with the current module (for example, if you are in the Profile Management module, Profile reports will appear at the top of the Reports menu).

DisplayCountry

Yes

No

Select Yes to include a Country field in Gifts and Pledges forms, and on the Contact side of Applications and Application History forms. When No is selected, Country fields are not exposed in those forms, but will still be visible in the Profile form and the Payee side of Application and Application History forms.

Email Exe

<File Name>

The path and file name for your email program executable. This is required in order to use the Send Email button on a Profile record.

Enforce Required Fields

No

Determines whether you want the system to enforce fields that are highlighted as required. Refer to Required Fields for more information.

The default value is No.

Explorer Exe

<File Name>

The path and file name for the Windows Explorer executable. This is required in order to set up folders to store files that are related to specific FIMS records.

Internet Browser Exe

<File Name>

The path and file name for your Internet browser executable.

Multiple Windows

Yes

No

Determines whether each FIMS module will open in a separate window. Choose Yes to use multiple windows or No to use a single window.

Save As Dir

<Directory Path>

The default directory where you want to save reports from the FIMS Viewer.

Use MAPI Email

Yes

No

Indicates whether you want to use MAPI email capability to send email messages from FIMS.

The default value is No.

Note: If you use MAPI email, you will be locked out of FIMS while it is running and will not be able to return to FIMS until after the message is sent.

WinFIMS Help

<File Location>

The location of the FIMS online help file.

The default path is <drive>:\found\fimshelp\fimshelp.chm.
