Article summary

When using the eAdvisorFundStatement2007 Macro to upload statements to DonorCentral, you may receive the following error: The document is not in the proper format. This is usually caused when the target file path for the statements is not defined within the document.

Answer:
This issue typically happens if the header is set for hidden on the template. It needs to not be hidden for the macro to see it. We instead recommend making the header text small and white. Unhide the header on the template and re-merge then re-run the macro.

If that does not work, then do the following but the above should work.

1. Hit Alt F9 to see merge fields in the template. If you do not see code in the header space, the text may be colored white. Highlight the area to show the text and change the font color so that you can see it.

2. Within this header code, replace eAdvisorDownloadDirectory with the file path to the location to which these statements are to be saved.

  • N:\found\eAdvisor for on-premise custromers
  • For Azure Cloud customers using local Word install it will be the path to the eAdvisor folder on your local machine
3. Once the file path has been typed into the Header code, save your template, re-merge and run the eAdvisorFundStatement2007 Macro.

Example for on-premise:
