User Defined Gift History Export Hangs or does not Complete Processing

Steps To Duplicate:
  1. Set up Gift History Export
  2. Set desired fields to export and selections
  3. Export Excel file to local disk. Export processes in about 1 minute and produces a small group of gifts
  4. Rerun same report but expand date selection
  5. Attempt to export Excel file. Process may take 5 to 10 minutes to run or not complete at all
Answer:
Check and see if any of the database fields are not indexed. Non-indexed fields will make the export time longer.

You can run the report Display FIMS Tables and Fields (under system utilities - system reports) and review for any non-indexed fields and then remove those from the export selection.

To help isolate the problem you can use the output to "View All Selections". "View All Selections" is located to the bottom left of FIMS Report Selections.
