Using Date Picture Switches
NOTE: Word can automatically insert the current date into your document, in the format you want. To do this, place your cursor at the insertion point in your Word document and select Insert > Date and Time. Select the desired date and time format, and click OK. Word will automatically insert the current date and / or time, in the format you selected.

---|---|
M | Displays the month as a number without a leading zero for single-digit months (for example, 1). |
MM | Displays the month with a leading zero for single-digit months (for example, 01). |
MMM | Displays the month as a three letter abbreviation (for example, Jan). |
MMMM | Displays the full name of the month (for example, January). |
d | Displays the day of the week or month as a number without a leading zero for single digit days. |
dd | Displays the day of the week or month with a leading zero for single digit days. |
ddd | Displays the day of the week or month as a three letter abbreviation (for example, Tue). |
dddd | Displays the full name of the day of the week (for example, Tuesday). |
yy | Displays the year as a two digit number with a leading zero for years 01 through 09. |
yyyy | Displays the year as a four digit number. |
