Article summary

The individual gifts are over $5000 so they should appear on the 990 donor schedule and they are not.  Why?

Answer:
The 990 donor schedule aggregates the gifts by idcode and compares the aggregate to the value entered in the set-up screen.  Typically this value is $5000.  Thus, a donor making 2 gifts of $3000 each would show on the report.

Several factors could cause the donor name and associated gifts to not appear.
  • If the gift was a pledge payment for an historic pledge and you left the accrual box checked, the pledge was previously included when it was made and subsequent payments will not be included.
  • Gift adjustments might cause the entire gift total for the year to drop below the cut-off value.
  • IRS Gift Type classification might be missing.  The gift type used on the gift must have a value in the IRS Gift Type field in the Gift Type maintenance screen ( File Maintenance > Gifts > Donor and Gift Code Maintenance > Gift Type)
