Are my codes in FIMS case sensitive?

Article summary

I want to know if I need to match upper and lower case letters in everything I do.

Answer:
All codes in FIMS are case insensitive.  What that means is that the program interprets abc, ABC, Abc, aBc, etc the same.  If you enter in a gift type of Cash or CASH, when you run a report and select on cAsh, you will get all records whose gift type has the letters cash regardless of whether any of the letters are capitalized or not.

Capitalization only matters from an aesthetic perspective - when running a report or looking at a data grid, do you want all the values in the field to be consistent in appearance.  if you do, then you need to either always select a field instead of type it or you need to carefully type the field the same way the code table value displays the code. FIMS will save the data in the format typed or when a code is selected, as the format in the code table.
