Paste Data into Excel

Pasting data into Excel is less complicated than using the Import Wizard. However, if you have a large data file, you may not be able to fit all of the data on the clipboard.

1. Run a report or export in FIMS. If you run an export, be sure to note the path and file name for the exported data file. If you run a report, you can either save the report as a data file or copy the text directly from the FIMS Viewer.

Note: Refer to Saving Reports from the FIMS Viewer in the FIMS Reports Guide for more information about saving report files.

2. Open the data file in a word-processing program, such as Notepad or Microsoft Word.

3. Select the entire document. In many programs, you can do this by pressing Ctrl + A on your keyboard.

4. Copy the text to the clipboard. In many programs, you can do this by either selecting Edit > Copy or pressing Ctrl + C on your keyboard.

5. Open a new worksheet in Excel.

6. Click on the target cell for the upper left-hand corner of the data range.

7. Either click the Paste button on the toolbar or press Ctrl + V on your keyboard to paste the data into Excel.
