Pledge Entry

The following steps illustrate a basic Pledge entry. In this example, a Donor record and Fund record already exist.

  • If you need to create a new Fund record for your Pledge, refer to Fund Entry in the Fund Management module for more information.
  • If you need to create a Profile record for the Donor, refer to Profile Entry in the Profile Management module for more information/
  • If you need to create a Donor record for the Donor, refer to Creating a Donor Record in the Donor and Gift Management module for more information.

NOTE: Determining required fields is an institutional decision. One organization might skip a field that is required at another. FIMS allows you to highlight fields that are required at your organization. Refer to Required Fields in the Introduction for more information.

NOTE: These steps may not mention every field that is available for entering Pledge information. If you would like more information about the other available fields, refer to the Pledge Tab, Acknowledgment Tab and Installments Tab.

When you select the Donor ID code for a Pledge, FIMS automatically pulls information from the Donor record to add to the Acknowledgment tab. When you save the Pledge, FIMS automatically builds the Installment plan, based on the Pledge Amount, First Payment Date, Number of Payments and Frequency. You can either accept these default values or make changes or additions to the information on the Acknowledgment and Installments tabs.
